Ps. 37:23 - "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD:" - Have you ever faced a decision for which you needed guidance? Many people turn to worldly "council". Some turn to "horiscopes", friends, co-workers, a boss, or even a "psychic". Not all of these are bad, except the 1st & the last, but our steps are to be ordered by NO ONE else, but God. Seek council when it is needed, but make sure it is GODLY council.

Psam 37:22 - "For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; & they that be cursed of him shall be cut off." - I want to be blessed of God. I want God to look down on me & say "Well done". Those who are blessed of God will one day inherit the earth as we rule & reign along side the King of kings. Those who refuse Christ and are cursed as a result will be cut off.The y will get opposite of what they desire!

In 2003: A 28-year-old Italian student took her final law exam in an Arezzo hospital delivery room after authorities said giving birth was not an excuse to miss the test. Psalm 37: 21 - "The wicked borroweth, & payeth not again:" - Here is 1 description of the wicked. People who do not pay back what they have borrowed is wicked. There are many Christians who fit in this category. Christians ought not to borrow, according to other verses in the Bible; but if we do we should make sure we pay it back as quickly as possible. Otherwise we fit the description of the wicked person.

Psalm 37:20 - " But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away." - In stark contrast to the upright man who will be provided for, by God Himself. The wicked will perish & they will be as the fat of lambs. When lambs were sacrificed, the fat of the lamb would melt almost instantly. The wicked will meet the same end.

Psalm 37:19 "They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied." - This verse is speaking of the "upright" found in v. 18. The days are evil all around us, but if we stand upright we will not be ashamed. It will be those who must hide their sins, lies, & deceptions that will be ashamed. When famine strikes, the upright will be satisfied. The upright are in the hands of God.

MT. 27:26 "when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified." - It's Good Friday. Today we celebrate the death of our Savior Jesus Christ. He died so we may live. I am thankful though that He did not stay dead, but He rose again the 3rd day. He had victory over the cross. So we may have victory in life! We can rejoice that Jesus willingly died for us so we don't have to pay for our sins on our own.

Ps. 37:18 - "The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: & their inheritance shall be for ever." - It PAYS to be righteous! On this Earth we may not have everything we want, but we will have all we need. God knows everything that happens on this Earth. He knows if we are righteous or not. He can see through any facade we may put on. Those who are righteous will receive an eternal inheritance. God makes us righteous.

In 1942: Boston Braves manager Casey Stengel got so mad at rookie pitcher Warren Spahn because he was unable to hit Dodgers shortstop Pee Wee Reese in four pitches, he sent Spahn back to the minors to learn better control. Spahn returned to the majors four years later to become the winningest lefthander of all time.

Ps. 37:17 - "For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous." - IT DOESN'T PAY to be wicked! Take this away from our study. Ps. 37 compares the wicked & the righteous. Question: Where do we fit in this comparison? Are we righteous or do we do "wicked" things to get what we want. Wickedness is more than the "BIG" sins, it's also the small things we do to manipulate "the system".

Psalm 37:16 - "A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked." - The wicked try to gain all they can in this life, after all "you only live once." Yes we only live once on this earth, but eternity in the world to come. When the wicked stand before God what will they have to show? NOTHING! The righteous may be "poor" in this world, but not in the world to come. Better to be righteous now.

Psalm 37:14-15 - "14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, & have bent their bow, to cast down the poor & needy, & to slay such as be of upright conversation. 15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken." - The life of the wicked is full of plotting, & trying to destroy every one around them. In the end, after all their fighting THEY will be the ones wounded. By there own "swords"!!

Ps. 37:12-13 - "12 The wicked plotteth against the just, & gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming." - I don't share the laughter with the Lord about the wicked. Instead I let Satan boil it up in my soul until I do something foolish. The Lord looks on & has a good laugh, I look on & have a "good hernia". Lord, may see the wiched plots through Your eyes!

Psalm 37:11 - "& shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." - What is the 1 thing the world is looking for, but shall never find? True peace. This peace will be given only to the meek. Those who humble themselves under God. What a wonderful truth! I am looking forward to the time when we shall experience, not just peace, but the ABUNDANCE of peace! Weary soldier 1 day you shall enjoy an abundance of peace.

Ps. 37:11 - "But the meek shall inherit the earth;" - Desite what the haughty or wrathful think, they will NOT inherit the earth. No, it will be the humble, & meek. All the time people spend "climbing the corporate ladder", stepping on whoever is in their way is WASTED time. There are better things to do such as serving God & loving others. This is the stuff of the meek, & it is they who SHALL inherit the earth.

In 2002: An armed robber held up a shopkeeper in Amsterdam and told the victim he'd wait for the police in a nearby park. A half hour later, the robber got tired of waiting and walked to the police station and gave himself up. He had to show his gun before police believed him. Police said the 38-year-old robber was homeless and wanted to be arrested so he had somewhere warm and dry to sleep.

Psalm 37:10 - "thou shalt diligently consider his place, & it shall not be." - The wicked spend all their time trying to destroy the righteous. They, plot, manipulate, & scheme in order to defeat truth and righteousness. Don't be fooled Christian, we are in warfare. Don't lay your armer down for 1 moment. If you will stay at your "post" where the Commander-in-Chief has placed you, 1 day you will see total victory.

Psalm 37:10 - "For yet a little while, & the wicked shall not be: " - Christian, It may be difficult in this life, but soon we shall see the end of the wicked! Those who relentlessly persecute the righteous, those "Spiritual terrorists" will one day be destroyed. We must keep the faith, keep pressing on, stay the course, be vigilant, until the day of reckoning. Rejoice, O Christian for SOON the wicked shall not be!

Psalm 37:10 - "For yet a little while, & the wicked shall not be: " - We must not quit even when serving God gets tough & doing the right thing gets more & more difficult. As the day approaches for the Lord's return the wicked will seemingly have us in a corner. It seems that almost everyday we hear of some Christian who has fallen prey to the world. Don't quit. Fight on, because SOON the wicked shall not be.

Psalm 37:9 - " but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. " - The evildoers will be destroyed, but one day it will be those who have waied on the Lord, & His timing, that will inherit the earth. Things may look grim today, but fret not because tommorrow is on the horizon. Keep the faith, Wait on God, for God and He WILL work in your situation. Don't turn to wickedness to get ahead, turn to God.

Psalm 37: 8-9 - "8 fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off:" - Christian, do you look around at all the wickedness & ever get discouraged? Fret not. Do you ever see the evildoers & think that they always prosper? Fret not. Why not fret? Because while the evildoer prosper in this world, it is only temporary. They will get there "reward" in the next world, and THAT'S an ETERNAL world!

Psalm 37:8 - "Cease from anger, and forsake wrath:" - To Cease from anger is to not be an "angry" person, while forsaking wrath is to not be a person that becomes hot with anger or rage. Do you or someone you know have a problem with become "hot with anger"? Are you a wrathful person, then forsake wrath. It is hard to keep our anger and wrath under wraps, but with the help of God it CAN be done.

Psalm 37:8 - "Cease from anger," - Have you been deeply hurt by a friend or loved one and you feel you have a right to be angry? Think about this: Have you been crucified for another persons sins? Jesus was and yet He cried "Father forgive them!" Why not cry out the same thing right now. Cease from anger, it will free you if you just free it. If you have a short fuse, give it to God and ask Him to give patience.

Proverbs 10:18 - "He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool." - He who openly detracts from his neighbor’s good name & reputation is a fool, a very wicked man. The secret dissembler, who thinks he is cunning because he hides himself; is a fool as well. The comparison between the dissembler & the slanderer is clear one is a liar, & the other a fool. Don’t be either!
