Psalm 37:36 "Yet he passed away , &, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found." - David had witnessed the greatness of the wicked, but he had also witnessed the total destruction of the wicked. David even looked for him and could NOT find him anywhere. David exercised patience as he waited for God's timing to take the throne of Israel. Let us do the same to claim God's promises. Victory will come.

Psalm 37:35 "I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree." - David has seen the wicked in power. He has experienced persecution from the wicked as he chases David with the soul purpose of killing him. David had been rejected, betrayed, and chased over the hill sides of Jerusalem, yet David knew what he was annointed to do, be king. Take a lesson from this king, remain faithful.

Psalm 37:34 "when the wicked are cut off , thou shalt see it." - The wicked have taken God out of school, the courtroom, & are now trying to completely wipe Him out of the public view. They would even take God out of families! We can easily be discouraged as a Christian, however we must remember that one day we will have the victory & will get the honor of seeing the wicked be cut off. Take courage Christian!

Psalm 37:34 "Wait on the LORD, & keep his way, & he shall exalt thee to inherit the land:" - We must learn to wait on the Lord. While we are waiting we should be about God's business, winning the lost, caring for the poor, working in the field. We do this in great anticipation that one day we will "inherit the land" as we rule and reign with Jesus. Be patient, not idle. Get into the field of hurting souls and work.

Ps. 37:33 "nor condemn him when he is judged." - God will not join in the sentence, but reverse it, & condemn the tongue that rises up in judgment against the righteous, & save the him from the wicked. The Lord will not condemn the righteous when he is judged by him at the hast judgment; but will acquit him before men & angels, & introduce him into his kingdom & glory. - John Gills Exposition of the Bible.

Psalm 37:33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, - Itmay seem at times that the wicked is doing what they set out to do... kill and destroy the righteous, but we have a promise from God's Word that God will not leave the righteous in the hand of the wicked. As the righteous face persecutions it makes us stronger because we relly on God and His Word. The wicked become prideful & soon they shall fall. Rest in God.

Psalm 37:32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. - As is par for this chapter we have looed at the righteous, now we will look a bit at the wicked. The wicked watches the righteous, looking for ways to "Destroy" the righteous. They seek to kill the righteous. The wicked does NOT like the righteous one bit. Becsuase the righteous takes a stand squarely against the wicked this makes them enemies.

Psalm 37:31 The law of his God is in his heart; - The law of God is the Biblle. So the question is, "Is the Bible in your heart?" Do you read daily from the Bible? Is it something you memorize? The Psalmist wrote "Thy Word have I hid in my heart..." Bible memory is not only for the children. It is for us adults as well. Do you love the Bible or t.v. more? How can you tell? Which do you spend the most time with?

Psalm 37:30 his (Righteous) tongue talketh of judgment. - Not only is it a great idea to seek council from the righteous because their mouth speak wisdom, but also because their tongue speaks judgement. There is no guessing when the righteous speak. The righteous speaks clearly. he will speak the truth, in love, in a judicial way. In other words he will not hem & haw about, he will, with judgement, tell the truth.

Today is...
Limerick Day - commemorating the birthday of Edward Lear (1812-1888), whose verses helped to popularize the form.
Here's one:
There was a young man from the city,
Who saw what he thought was a kitty.
To make sure of that,
He gave it a pat.
They buried his clothes, what a pity!

Ps. 37:29 The righteous shall inherit the land, & dwell therein for ever. - We are made righteous through Jesus Christ. Because of what he did for us, we have an inheritance that will not fade away, EVER! Jesus is preparing a land for us where the wicked will never be admitted. In this land there will be no sin, suffering, sorrow. All will be made right ans all will be alright. Does this not sound like heaven?

Ps. 37:28 but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. - While the saint is not forgotten it is just as true that God being just and "fair" will one day destroy the wicked. He will not only destroy the wicked perrson, but their seed! This means they will have no heir to take their place. I am looking forward to the time when God destroys the wiched One, Satan himself. I will be glad when he can no longer cause harm.

Ps. 37:28 the LORD loveth judgment, & forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: - At times we may say, "Life isn't fair!" whhich is true, but God is. He is Just & loves judgement. Saint, you may not receive your just reward until you get to heaven, but rest assured that God has NOT forgotten, nor forsaken you. God loves judgment, but more importantly God loves YOU, so stay focused to the end.

Ps. 37:27 Depart from evil, & do good; & dwell for evermore. - We cannot in & of ourselves turn away from evil, we ARE evil. Until a person turns to Christ that person is doomed to spend eternity in hell. Christian, we should be telling the world the message of hope. They don't have to go to hell, they can go to heaven, if only they repent. Just as the psalmist gived us hope we too must spread the word of hope!

Psalm 37:26 He (The righteous) is ever merciful , & lendeth - Not only does the righteous person show mercy, but he is NOT selfish with his worldly gains. The righteous person realizes that God lends us breath, money, health, etc. As a result the righteous person recognizes that what he has is NOT his own, but God's & if someone is in need he will gladly lend. If you see a need, help out, don't be selfish.

Psalm 37:26 He (The righteous) is ever merciful, - Because the righteous person sees the goodness of God he in turn is merciful. God shows His mercy daily to us as we wake up with new mercies everyday. Everyday we do something that offends God whether it be a thought, attitude, etc. & yet He gives us new mercy. The righteous likewise shows mercy to those who do not deserve it. Have you been done wrong? Show mercy.

Psalm 37:25 - "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken , nor his seed begging bread." - Do you find yourself up against a wall thinking you will not make it? Do you find yourself asking where you get the needed $ to pay bills? Christian fear not, here is a testimony of an older saint who exclaims that God will not let the righteous go needy, He WILL supply your needs. Trust Him.

Psalm 37:24 - "Though he fall , he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand." The righteous person is not perfect. Sometimes the righteous fall but when that happens, God is there to forgive and pick the rigteous person up. God upholds the righteous. This means that we are in His hands. Should we fall into sin we fal into God's Grace. If we repent & turn from that sin, He will forgive.
