You Can't Do Wrong and Get By
Lethal A. Ellis, 1929
Scripture: Galatians 6:7
3. Yes, He knows yours secrets, everything you do,
He knows that your life is untrue;
You can ne’er deceive Him, there’s no use to try,
You can’t do wrong and get by.
Refrain:
You can’t do wrong and get by,
No matter how much you may try;
Nothing hidden can be, everything He doth see,
You can’t do wrong and get by.

King Hezekiah did not stop with simply destroying false gods. 2 Kings 18:5 tells us that he trusted in the LORD. It is important that we not only rip out the false gods of our lives, but that we replace the with God Almighty. We must learn to trust God. Especially when Satan tempts us to do wrong, go back to the sin you have placed under the blood of Jesus. We must learn to lean on God & trust Himlike never before.

Holly's granddad passed away so we went to the funeral in Ar. While on the way back to TN our car broke down. Here is a great lesson. We all know life doesn't work out perfectly, yet it's always a shock when things go wrong. I had a great time with my kids as we walked the streets of the beautiful small town we were stranded in yesterday. We simply need to rely on God and not fret when everything comes unravelled.

So, what made Hezekiah such a great king? 1st off Hezekiah forsook the false gods of his father and turned to the 1 true God. 2 Kings 18:4 - He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made : for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan." We must do the same - destroy the false gods.

Hezekiah began to reign iover Juda after his father died. While 2 kings 16 tells us that Hezekiah's father was a wicked king, 2 Kings 18 tells us God's report on Hezekiah. " he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did ...so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him." Oh that God would think so highly of us today!

August 24 is Vesuvius Day. Vesuvius Day is August 24th because on August 24, 79 A.D. Mt. Today is... Vesuvius Day (Italy)

Vesuvius erupted. It killed over 3,000 people while burying the cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae in pumice and volcanic ash.

This World Is Not My Home - This world is not my home, I'm just a passing thru, my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue, The angels beckon me from heavens open door, And I can't feel @ home in this world anymore.
O Lord, you know I have no friend like you, If heaven's not my home, then Lord what would I do; The angels beckon me from heaven's open door, & I can't feel @ home in this world anymore.

Wicked King Ahaz sacrificed & burnt incense in the high places, & on the hills - 2 Kings 16:4 He left God to worship other gods. We say "I have no gods in my house. No statues. I'm safe from doing such a thing." Yet we sacrifice family for work. We sacrifice church for "sleep". We sacrfice quite time with God because "we simply don't have time." Don't be fooled these are only a few examples of worshiping other gods.

Many Christians have said, "God can't really use me. Look at my past, you will see I've a rough life, & made some bad choices." Yet, I believe that God CAN use you even if you come from an ungodly background. The story of one of the BEST kings of Israel will encourage you. This king's dad "did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God," Yet God used Hezekiah powerfully. 2 Kings 18 God can use you too.

Esther 4:14 - "if thou holdest thy peace at this time, then shall deliverance arise to the Jews from another place;" - Don't be fooled, God does not NEED anyone. His DESIRE is to use you. If you don't allow to do so, you will lose reward & joy of service to Almighty God. He loses nothing, He will find another to fulfill His will. Don't sit & sour, get up & get in the action. Don't miss out on God's GREAT blessings.

Today is... Bad Poetry Day - a day to create some really bad verse. But, why you ask? Perhaps, the answer is simply "because you can". Maybe, it exists to allow us to better appreciate good poetry. Or, perhaps it is to be written to irritate someone......
Today is a day for bad poetry,
so I will give it a shot,
but only for...thee!

Esther 4:14 - "who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther was asked to go before the king & beg for the lives of Israel. This was dangerous & could mean death. She was waivering on this decision when these words were spoken. When you find yourself on the verge of a lifechanging decision, take these words to heart & follow God, even though it may seem "dangerous". Follow Christ.

Ps. 40:3 - "he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, & fear, & shall trust in the LORD." - Praise isn't something that causes fear & trust in God is it? Yes praising God in "public" will cause this to happen. Praise God for His greatness, love, strength.etc. People will notice. Don't be a closet "praiser" instead BOLDLY praise God even in the dark times, and you be a light.
http://ht.ly/65geG - This is my blog about my war on weight. I'm tired of being FAT so I have declared war, read about it here!!!

Today is... Joe Miller's Joke Day - A day to tell a joke in honor of the English comic actor Joseph (or Josias) Miller, who was born in 1684. He died at London, Aug 16, 1738. From Joe Miller’s Jests, London, 1739: “A melting Sermon being preached in a country Church, all fell a weeping but one Man, who being asked, why he did not weep with the rest? O! said he. I belong to another Parish.”

Believe on the Lord
We read in the Bible of miracles wrought, By Jesus, our Savior & Lord, When many in trouble, in sin & in doubt, Were saved by believing His word.
The jailer sprang into prison by night, With fright & in terror He raved; He fell down by Paul as he tremblingly said, O what must I do to be saved?
Believe on the Lord, Christ Jesus, Believe on the Lord, Christ Jesus, & thou shalt be saved.

As I was thinking about the verse that says God is the same yesterday, today, & forever. I got an excited feeling, then a cold chill. IT is true that God is always gracious, kind, etc., but He is STILL jealous, Judge, & Holy. This means He still HATES sin, false "gods", unrighteoussness, unfaithfulness to Him, etc. Christian we WILL 1 day stand before an unchanged God & give account of our life. Today, live Holy.

Busses warming up at 5:30 A.M. I bet if you listen close enough you can hear moans and groans...ah the sound of another school year beginning. Teachers preparing to shape the minds of our kids. Kids will be thinking about math, science...
God tells us in Philippians 4:8 that we are to think on things that glorifies Him. Things that are good. Let me encourage you today to think only on the good things.

Rom. 8:15 - "whereby we cry , Abba, Father. " - Sometimes we can do nothing but cry out to Abba Father. We have a Father that isn't too busy to hear us nor is He gone on a business trip, have a cell phone, where youcan leave a message. No, He doesn't have any of these, He has, instead something MUCH more valuable. He has EARS to HEAR & love for us that causes Him to move on our behalf. That's my Abba, Father!

Jeremiah 1:4-8 "...Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak..." Jeremiah told God that He could not do what was asked of Him, for he was only "a child". God does not accept our excuses, He does however want you to go where He sends you. Go in power for you have the God of the universe with you every step of the way! If you are discouraged because of a trial, take courage God is right beside you. Get up & go in His power.

Josh 24:15 - choose you this day whom ye will serve - Life is full of chioces. We wake up & choose whether we want to shower 1st, or brush our teeth. We choose whether we want to eat breakfast or not. We make sooo many choices every day. Some seem so small & others larger. The same is applicable in the Spiritual life. Today you will choose to serve the flesh or God - not just once, but many times. "Today I choose..."

Isaac Watts - "We Will Stand the Storm"
Am I a soldier of the cross, A follower of the Lamb? And shall I fear to own His cause, Or blush to speak His name?
Sure I must fight if I would reign, ; increase my courage, Lord! I'll bear the toil, endure the pain, Supported by Thy word.
We will stand the storm, We will anchor by & by, We will stand the storm, We will anchor by & by.

I came across a quote last week, the auther is unknown, but it says "If you don't want anyone to know, don't do it." so simple yet powerful. Christians have a tendancy to do things in secret and keep others from knowing about what we are doing. The only problem with that way of thinking is that whether we like it or not if we do something wrong it has been seen by God Almighty, the Judge. He even knows your thoughts.

Change occurs in the Christian's life when he meets with God. We have discussed devotions and prayer. There are other ways to meet with God as well, do know what they are? I will give you a couple more today. 3. Church - When I say church I mean Sunday morning, Sunday night & midweek as well. Why do I say that, beacuse we are told to in Heb. 10:25. 4. Quiet time - sit in a quiet place & just listen. Ps. 46:10.

During VBS last week I was telling my boys that Christians experience change (2 Cor. 5:17). We experience change when we meet with God. How do we meet with God? We meet with God in several ways. 1. Devotions - Are you FAITHFULLY, DAILY reading God's Word? 2. Prayer - Do you pray to God? I don't mean only for your food or when life is bad, I mean do you REALLY pray? (Discover other ways to meet with God Tommorrow)

God has a plan for every one of His children. If you are a Christian, God has something special for you. It is not our responsability to know ALL of God's will for our life, it is only our job to do what God has called us to do here...now. We have a choice, we can either follow God completely and experience an "Abundant Life" or we can fight God and experience, a life of regret. Follow God COMPLETELY, do it NOW.

Welcome to August!! I don't know about you, but it is HARD for me to believe we are already in August! I want to pose is this, Have you grown spiritually this past week? Are you DOING more for Christ at this point in the year than you were in January? Are you more faithful to God now then this time last year? How about your devotions, prayer time, etc.? We should be growing closer to God every day. Well...are you?
