Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." - Hunger illustrates a GREAT desire. When a person is hungery the stomach begins to hurt, and strong cravings for food begin to take "control" until the stomach is filled. If you hunger for ANYTHING in this world, you will NEVER be filled. Only when you hunger after righteousness will you be filled and satisfied.

Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." - People try so hard to get to the top, have the riches, have the fame, and the easy life. Building ourselves up will not get us to the top, it will only cause a big hurt down the road. Do really want to have the world, rule the world; then live a meek life. It matters not who has the "world" now, only who has the "World" through eternity.

Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." - What causes you to mourn? The Psalmist says "He that goeth forth & weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." We mourn the loss we experience, but what about the loss of an eternal soul? No? No tears? It's been too long since Christians have had a good mourning. God forgive us.

Matthew 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." The world is full of me first, climbing the corporate ladder & will use anyone for a step on the way up. PRIDE.!! I have found, the higher you build yourself up, the harder the fall and the more it hurts. If Christians would exercise this one be attitude we would not only be great in God's eyes, but ours would be the kingdom of Heaven.

1656 Massachusetts enacted severe laws against Quakers. (At the time, government and religion were intricately interwoven; the line between blasphemy and treason was virtually nonexistent; and non-sacramental Quakerism gave the impression that the denomination was anti-government.)

Matthew 4:19 - "And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Luke 9:61 - " Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first..." Too many times we try to bargain with God. When we bargain we assume we have something of worth; We don't. As my mom would tell me "No but's about it, just obey....now." When you here God ask you to do something say, "Yes Lord." Then, shut the mouth and move the feet.

1 Samuel 15:22 - "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice." - The musical Fiddler on the Roof opens with a song about traditions. This verse talks to traditions. We are guilty of the same, we park in the same spot @ church, we sit in the same pew, go to the same place for lunch, etc. We even give the same amount in the offering - TRADITION. God is not interested in our traditions, He's interested in our obedience.

Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it. Harold S. Hulbert
James 1:25 - " he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." - How many times have you caught yourself in the middle of church service daydreaming, or reading your Bible only to find out you are clueless as to what you read. We are all guilty. We "hear" the Word, but then we forget what was said or what we read. Blessings only come as we DO what we have heard.

Jesus, however, comes to us in our hour of need. He says to "Come unto Me all ye that labor & are heavy laden." Jesus is a friend on whom we can ALWAYS depend. Though we DENY Him, He turns TO us in our darkest hour.

Let's keep our tesimony & even take advantage of today to labor for Him.

Looking @ Romans 8 PT. 5 - "38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Remember God is love, so wherever God goes so goes His love & since God is with us & in us His love is ALWAYS with us!

Looking @ Romans 8 PT. 4 - "37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us." - The answer to Paul's question in verse 35 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" is more than NO, we are victorious, through Christ & His love. Take heart Christian friend, when you feel alone & depression looms, look to the cross of Christ & KNOW you are loved, whatever Satan may hurl at you.

Looking @ Romans 8 PT. 3 - "36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." - The question was posed by Paul in verse 35 - Who shall seperate us from the love of Christ? The question here is can death itself be victorious in seperating us from Christ's love? The answer - no, Christ has defeated death for us. As Stephen in Acts when we die God is there.
