On This Date...
In 1975: 22-year-old Michael Murphy left Stevenage, England, to ride his bicycle around the world. Almost two years later, after traveling 25,000 miles and with only 40 miles to go, his bike was accidentally crushed at a customs depot, and he had to hitchhike home.
